About Us

At Huggy Life, our story began with a simple moment between a grandfather and his grandson.
 

During a family vacation over Christmas, three generations were spending time together enjoying the holiday. One afternoon, Grandfather Dean Lodding was outside playing catch with his young grandson, Hudson. As they tossed the ball back and forth, Dean noticed something many parents and grandparents see in young children, Hudson was trying his best, but his hand-eye coordination just wasn’t quite there yet.
 

The ball slipped through his hands again and again.
 

Then Dean tried something different.
 

Instead of the ball, he tossed Hudson the stuffed animal that he slept with every night, the one you would always find him hugging. Instinctively, without hesitation, Hudson caught it perfectly. Again and again.
 

In that small moment, something clicked.
 

What if a toy could help children develop coordination, confidence, and connection; all while still being something they love to hug and hold?
 

That day, the idea for Huggy Life was born
.

Founded in 2025, Huggy Life was created by Dean Lodding, the principal founder, alongside his son and two sons-in-law. Together, they set out to build more than just toys. They set out to build a movement focused on creating products that spark development, encourage play, and most importantly, create lasting family memories.
 

At Huggy Life, we believe the best ideas often come from the most meaningful moments, the ones shared between generations, filled with laughter, learning, and love.
 

Because sometimes the smallest hug can start the biggest idea.
